Insurance & claims
Can I choose my own smash repairer, or do I have to use my insurer’s?
In NSW you can ask your insurer to use the repairer of your choice, and many policies include choice of repairer. Tell your insurer you’d like Bailey Smash Repairs when you lodge the claim and we’ll handle it from there.
Which insurance companies do you work with?
All of them. We regularly repair for NRMA, AAMI, Allianz, QBE, Suncorp, GIO, Shannons, Youi, Budget Direct, Woolworths Insurance and many more. We deal with the insurer and their assessor directly, so you don’t have to.
Can you help me lodge and manage my claim?
Yes. We manage the claim from start to finish: we book the assessment, send photos and quotes to the insurer, get the repair approved and keep you updated. How insurance repairs work.
Should I claim on insurance or pay privately?
For small damage, a private repair can cost less than your excess and won’t affect your no-claim bonus. Ask us for a private quote first and we’ll help you decide.
What does the insurance assessor do?
The assessor inspects the damage and agrees the repair method and cost with us. If we find hidden damage once the car is stripped down, we get extra approval before continuing.
Not-at-fault accidents
Do I pay an excess if the accident wasn’t my fault?
No. If another driver caused the accident and they’re identified, we claim the repair from their insurer, so there’s no excess for you to pay. How not-at-fault claims work.
Can I get a replacement car while mine is repaired?
Yes. If you weren’t at fault, we can arrange a replacement car so you’re not left without transport. Ask us when you call.
What should I do straight after an accident?
Make sure everyone is safe and call 000 if anyone is hurt. Swap names, phone numbers, addresses, registration and insurer details with the other driver, take photos of both cars and the scene, and don’t admit fault. Then call us on (02) 9630 4699.
What if the other driver doesn’t have insurance?
You may still be covered by your own policy (some include uninsured motorist cover), or you can recover the cost from the driver directly. Call us and we’ll explain your options.
What if the other driver’s insurer disputes fault?
We’ll help you put together your evidence: photos, witness details and any police event number. While it’s sorted out, you can also claim on your own policy.
Repairs & timing
How long will my car be in the workshop?
Most repairs take 3 to 7 business days, depending on the damage and parts availability. We give you a timeframe before we start and keep you updated along the way.
What repairs do you do?
Panel beating and collision repairs, spray painting and colour matching, dent and hail repairs, bumper and scratch repairs, structural repairs, alloy wheel refinishing and full resprays. See our work for real examples.
Do you repair electric and hybrid vehicles?
Yes. We repair electric and hybrid vehicles safely and to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Will the new paint match the rest of my car?
Yes. We colour-match to your car’s paint as it is today, spray in our paint booth and blend into neighbouring panels where needed, so the repair doesn’t stand out.
Can dents be fixed without repainting?
Often, yes. Paintless dent removal works on small to medium dents where the paint isn’t cracked, and keeps your factory paint. Read our PDR guide.
Will an independent repair void my new car warranty?
No. Under Australian Consumer Law, using an independent repairer doesn’t void your new car warranty, as long as the work is done properly. Read our warranty guide.
Do you repair fleet and commercial vehicles?
Yes. We repair company cars, vans and utes, and can send quotes and updates straight to your fleet manager. Fleet repairs.
Quotes & payment
Is a quote free?
Yes. Quotes are free and there’s no obligation to go ahead.
Do I need an appointment for a quote?
No. Drive in during opening hours and we’ll look at the car straight away. It usually takes 10 to 15 minutes.
Can I get a quote from photos?
Yes. Upload a wide shot and a close-up of the damage through our online quote form and we’ll reply with an estimate, usually within one business day.
How much will my repair cost?
It depends on the damage, the car and whether parts need replacing. Small scratches and dents can be inexpensive; larger collision repairs cost more. Send photos for a free estimate.
What payment options do you accept?
Credit and debit cards and bank transfer. For insurance repairs we deal with your insurer directly, and you only pay your excess if one applies.
